Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire 9-12-11

Chicago responded to a 2-11 alarm for a fire at 3056 N. Milwaukee Avenue on Monday morning. According to the Chicago Tribune, the fire broke out at 9:24 a.m. in the two-story building, which housed a bakery on the first floor and apartments on the second. When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the basement, and the ceiling appeared to be involved in the blaze, said fire department spokesman Larry Langford. The building was empty at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Despite the initial efforts, the fire forced firefighters to evacuate the structure shortly after their arrival.
