"Low-dimensional semiconductor heterostructure materials and laser research" project started

[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] Recently, the key project of the National Key R&D Program for Strategic Advanced Electronic Materials, “Low-dimensional Semiconductor Heterostructure Materials and Lasers” was held in Beijing in 2016. Leaders of the project: More than 40 people, including the relevant leaders of the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, project leaders, project managers, project consultants, and high-tech centers of the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the meeting.

The "low-dimensional semiconductor heterostructure materials and lasers research" project aims to address the urgent needs of strategic high-end optoelectronic materials and devices in the national information technology field to realize low-power, high-bandwidth access networks/transmission networks and optical interconnects. The high-performance, low-dimensional semiconductor heterostructure materials and laser light sources used in space communications are targeted, and high-performance semiconductor laser light sources based on low-dimensional semiconductor heterostructure materials are finally realized.

At the meeting, related personnel of the High-tech Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology introduced the 2016 “advanced electronic materials” key special projects for the year 2016 deployment and establishment status, special management rules and procedures, and common problems in the implementation process, including project management, quality control, and publicity. New requirements and recommendations have been put forward in areas such as the use of funds and the functions of consultants. Prof. Chen Hongda, deputy director of the Institute of Semiconductors, briefed the semiconductor company on its commitment to the key R&D projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and stated that it will actively coordinate the implementation of the project, fund management, and support guarantees to ensure that the various tasks of the project are successfully accomplished.

Yang Tao, the project leader, introduced the overall situation of the project, the research directions and expected goals of each project, implemented the specific tasks of the participating units, and communicated and coordinated the project team, the use and management of funds, the industrialization of achievements, and the talents. Training and other aspects were deployed. The project consultants provided opinions and suggestions on the specific implementation of the project and the project.
