How a Bilge Pump Works
Non-automatic bilge pumps operate using a float or panel switch. The motor cartridge can be removed for easy cleaning of the strainer and impeller if clogged with debris. Electric submersible pumps are the most popular type of electric bilge pumps due to their high output, cost-effectiveness, low amp draw, and ease of installation. They are designed to fit in the lowest part of the bilge and only require discharge pipe work and an electricity supply.
