Tapered Roller Bearings 1. Description Tapered roller bearings are separable bearings with tapered raceways on both the inner and outer rings. The rollers have a rounded shape, and the contact between the rollers and raceways is line contact. This design allows them to handle heavy radial and axial loads, as well as pure axial loads. The larger the contact angle, the higher the load capacity.
The taper of the rollers is designed so that the contact lines of the inner and outer raceways extend at the same point on the shaft, ensuring pure rolling. Based on the number of roller rows, these bearings can be classified into single-row, double-row, and four-row tapered roller bearings, with imperial sizes also available. 2.
