Mazda will recall more than 500,000 cars worldwide

According to foreign media reports, due to power steering problems, Mazda Motor will recall more than 500,000 vehicles worldwide.

A Mazda spokesperson stated that Mazda Motor Corporation will recall more than 500,000 vehicles worldwide due to power steering defects. This is the largest recall of Japanese auto companies since Toyota was more closely monitored due to quality issues.

Mazda has submitted an application to Japan’s authoritative department to recall 215,000 vehicles in the United States and 10,000 cars in China. The spokesperson confirmed in a Japanese domestic media report today that Mazda also plans to expand the scope of recalls, including major export markets in Europe and Australia.

According to reports, a total of 514,000 vehicles are expected to be recalled this time, mainly targeting Axela (called Mazda3 in some markets) and Premacy (known in some markets as Mazda5) manufactured by Japanese factories from 2007 to 2008. Model. The recalled model may suddenly lose power steering and cause a car accident.

The spokesman also said that up to now, there have been three accidents in the United States related to the power steering defects of the recalled vehicles. Fortunately, no casualties occurred.

Mazda claimed that the defect was caused by the rusting of the system's high pressure pipe, which caused the power steering pump to be damaged and stop working. The models that were produced last year have already solved this problem.

Mazda's shares listed in Tokyo did not appear to have been affected by this news, but the stock price rose by 1.6% to 197 yen, which was 0.9% higher than the Eastern Securities Transportation Equipment Index.
