Here's a message from Steve Redick:
Another story from Jim Regan’s archive. This tragic fire took place on a freezing cold night in 1989, and it claimed the life of Firefighter Kelvin Anderson from Engine 107. His body was found several hours after the fire had reached its peak. I’ve uploaded some photos I took at the scene, which capture the intensity of the event.

According to fsi.illinois.edu:
On December 22, 1989, Firefighter Kelvin Anderson of the Chicago Fire Department, assigned to Engine 107, lost his life while responding to a fire at the Rose of Sharon Church on West Warren Boulevard. The incident occurred when the roof collapsed on him as he was searching for victims inside the church around 7 p.m. For over 16 hours, rescue teams worked tirelessly to locate him, and his body was finally recovered from the basement of the church around 11 a.m. the following day. An autopsy revealed that he had died from asphyxiation and severe burns. Anderson was honored with full department honors during his funeral, and a memorial plaque was dedicated to him at Engine 107’s station in 2001. These images serve as a powerful reminder of the bravery and sacrifice made by those who serve.
