A new standard for the retirement of imported cars and years of retirement for domestic vehicles is being formulated

Should imported cars be restricted to the same service life as domestic cars? Yesterday, according to the proposal of the CPPCC committee members to relax the proposal on compulsory retirement of motor vehicles, the Provincial Economy and Information Technology Committee answered that the relevant national ministries and commissions are formulating the new “Rules for Compulsory Motor Vehicle Discarding Standards”.

15 years of compulsory retirement of trucks

Provincial People's Political Consultative Conference member Mou Runhong believes that the state stipulates the compulsory scrapping period of motor vehicles, and that “heavy, medium and light cargo vehicles, semi-trailer tractors, semi-trailers, and trailers” shall be set to mandatory retirement for 15 years instead of motor vehicles. It is unreasonable to implement a one-size-fits-all approach to discriminate between the actual performance conditions and uses.

The reply stated that this policy has comprehensively taken into consideration the actual conditions of the vehicle itself, such as the quality of the vehicle, its use, daily maintenance and road surface construction conditions in various places.

The same standards as imported cars and domestic cars

Yan Runhong believes that in the use of the same environment, the imported motor vehicle quality, performance, environmental protection, energy conservation and other aspects than the domestic same class, so its life is generally longer than domestic cars. For imported vehicles, the time limit for deferred use shall be determined according to the state of safety technology and various comprehensive actual conditions, and shall not be subject to the limitation of the equivalent service life of domestic vehicles.

The reply stated that all vehicles should be treated in the same way according to the national unified standards. It should not be simply considered that imported vehicles are better than domestic cars and that their supervision should be relaxed. It is not appropriate to establish different standards for scrapping of imported cars and domestic cars.
