Iowa will build a phosphate plant
Stonegate Agricom, a Canadian phosphate company, recently announced its feasibility study report for its phosphate project in Paris, Iowa, USA.
The president of Shimen Agriculture stated that according to the feasibility report, the cost of the phosphate rock mining is competitive, and because of its superior geographical location, it will be able to provide phosphate rock for North American fertilizer producers and Asian fertilizer producers that use the West Coast shipping channel. “The phosphate rock grade is as high as 32%, and the phosphate ore mined can be sold directly without post-processing or beneficiation,†he added.
Shimen Agriculture acquired the Paris Mountain Phosphorus Project in September 2009 and it is expected that the investment will reach US$239 million. According to the results of the feasibility study, the output of the concentrate in the third year of the project will reach 800,000 tons per year, and the target output in the fifth year will reach 1 million tons.
