On October 13, Wugang No. 2 rolling mill trial-rolled a new variety of steel high-strength ship E500 successfully. This steel is a new type of steel developed by the company to meet the needs of the market.
The high-strength shipboard E500 is a high-strength and high-toughness special steel plate, which is mainly used to manufacture ships and marine engineering machinery that require good weldability. The steel grade adopts low-carbon bainite composition design idea and is produced according to TMCP process. The maximum thickness is expanded to 60mm, the yield strength requirement is more than 500MPa, the tensile strength is required to be between 610MPa and 770MPa, and the tensile strength can withstand more than 33J at -40°C. The lateral impact requires rapid cooling to below 600 °C after rolling, which is quite difficult to produce for 50 mm thick plates. The second rolling mill overcomes various technical problems, gives full play to the advantages of the new line equipment, and utilizes the characteristics of direct quenching of the rapid cooling equipment DQ, paying close attention to each process in the rolling process to ensure that the rolling conditions are met.
On the same day, the total weight of the seven pieces rolled was 103.261 tons of E500 new steel, which were all inspected and tested in accordance with technical standards.
