2-Alarm brush fire in Hawthorn Woods. 10-18-15

The Lake Zurich Fire Department responded to a field of burning cattails in Hawthorn Woods on Sunday. The area was surrounded by residential homes, and access to the opposite side of the field required crews to travel several blocks. Because of the large size of the fire and the limited access, they initially requested a MABAS Box Alarm and later upgraded to a Second Alarm. The address listed for the incident was 8 Westwind Court.

I arrived at the scene after the Second Alarm units had been deployed, and by the time I got there, the fire was already under control. I took a few photos of the situation as I found it. It's interesting to see how quickly emergency services responded and how they managed to contain the fire despite the challenges.
