The domestic chlorinated paraffin market has remained relatively stable in recent months. However, some regional price fluctuations have emerged due to rising liquid wax costs. In Henan and other areas, chlorinated paraffin prices have increased slightly, but in most regions, prices have stayed steady with minimal changes.
Looking at specific product grades, the price of Chloro-wax-52 varies across different regions. In Jiangsu and Zhejiang, it ranges from 5,800 to 6,000 yuan per ton, with some reports of prices reaching as high as 6,200 yuan. In Shandong and Hebei, the range is 5,800–5,900 yuan, while the Northeast sees prices between 6,000–6,500 yuan. Guangdong and Fujian both report prices of 6,000–6,200 yuan and 6,000–6,100 yuan respectively. Sichuan and Henan/Shaannxi regions are slightly lower, with prices between 5,600–5,800 yuan and 5,600–5,700 yuan.
For Chloro-wax-42, ex-factory prices in Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang remain around 5,300–5,500 yuan. In Henan, the price range is lower, between 4,500–4,700 yuan. Meanwhile, Chloro-wax-70 continues to trade around 8,500–9,000 yuan per ton.
Three main factors are influencing the market. First, despite a drop in international crude oil prices—from around $68 per barrel at the end of January to about $61 currently—domestic liquid wax prices have risen sharply. For example, the ex-factory price of Shenyang wax went from 7,400 to 7,700 yuan, while Jinxi Petroleum’s Fifth Plant increased from 7,600 to 7,900 yuan. Fushun and Nanjing Jinling Petrochemical also saw their prices climb to 8,000 yuan.
Second, demand for chlorinated paraffins remains flat, but the sharp rise in liquid wax prices has significantly increased production costs for manufacturers. Third, while most producers maintain stable output and sales, some have seen a decline in sales and an increase in inventory levels.
Looking ahead, demand for chlorinated paraffin is expected to pick up from late March to April, leading to a gradual price increase. As downstream industries begin to operate at higher rates in mid-March, the demand for chlorinated paraffin will steadily rise. Additionally, with raw material costs continuing to climb, manufacturers are likely to raise their prices to offset the increased expenses and avoid losses or reduced profitability.
