Two new vessels will be delivered to Canadian operator Algoma in late 2017 and early 2018, respectively, as part of the latter's fleet modernization project.
Mikael Hägglund, Sales Manager of MacGregor Dumping Business, said, “We fully discussed the customer's technical requirements in the early stage of the contract and were able to provide the most efficient solution to meet the needs of the operators. It can overcome the urgent delivery time and the shipyard is good. Teamwork is another important factor in our order."
According to the contract, MacGregor will deliver a highly automated and efficient self-unloading system for each new ship. The unloading capacity of the largest stone or iron ore is 5,450 tons/hour, and the maximum unloading capacity of coal is 4,360 tons. hour. In addition, MacGregor will be responsible for designing the entire self-unloading system.
Upon delivery, two new vessels will join Algoma's 13 Canadian domestic dump truck fleets, operating primarily in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence waters, and will meet stringent environmental regulations.

A common mistake is to refer to "spherical Rod Ends" as "Ball Joints." The best way to tell a ball joint from a spherical rod end is that the head of the ball joint stud is never visible in the assembly. The other distinguishing factor is that all spherical rod ends have a spherical ball which may or may not be fitted with a rod end stud.

Ball Joints are typically lighter duty compared to a spherical rod end. Even so, in some styles and configurations, ball joints can withstand 1500 and even 1700 pound loads.
