Manufacturing Returns to the United States Becomes a Big Exporter of Injection Molding Machines in China
This year, China's export of plastic machinery has been rising month by month since the Spring Festival. In May, China exported 5,402 plastics machinery, with an export value of US$14.488 million. Although the export of presses continued to increase after the Spring Festival, the amount of exports in May still fell 7.2% year-on-year. In addition, from the data of recent months, it can be seen that the average price of China's press exports has dropped significantly year-on-year since the beginning of this year. China's press industry will face greater pressure.
Looking at the situation of injection molding machines, last May was the month with the largest volume of injection molding machines in the year. In May of this year, the export value of injection molding machines was USD 82.652 million, which was a slight decrease from January and a year-on-year decline of 15.1%. Relatively speaking, the exports of the extruder in May were better, with an export value of 30.667 million U.S. dollars, which was the largest month for export this year.
All along, the low export price is a major problem for China's export of presses. Industry analysts pointed out that the lack of "competitive products" is an important bottleneck in the development of presses and expects a transition. However, this trend is more and more obvious, which shows that China's plastics industry is still difficult to get rid of low added value. With the economic development, intelligent plastics will become the new darling of the press companies for the market. Overall, the key words in the 2013 press market are still aimed at innovation and transformation.
In May's export data for presses, it is worth noting that the United States imported 54 injection molding machines from China in May, amounting to US$7.027 million, becoming the country with the largest number of injection molding machines imported from China in May, and it has been a long one in the past. In time, this has almost never happened. We have noticed that although the U.S. manufacturing PMI has risen and waned since the beginning of this year, the fluctuations have not been very large and are basically above the line of prosperity and death. Manufacturing industry is the highlight of this round of US economic recovery. As of last May, US manufacturing continued its 34-month expansion. The U.S. government’s support for the backflow of manufacturing has rapidly increased its demand for equipment and products.
The amount of imported injection molding machines from China has also been increasing since the beginning of this year. Since March, the amount of imports has remained at more than US$5 million. However, as I mentioned before, Brazil has certain difficulties in its industrial development because of household spending power and local policies. While Russia was almost stagnant in the first quarter of this year, HSBC Russia's manufacturing Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) expansion continued to slow in April, dropping from 50.8 in March to 50.6, a four-month low. As the major exporter of China's extruders, Russia’s import value from China in May fell drastically to 1.60 million U.S. dollars, the lowest since this year.
In the future, Southeast Asia will continue to be the major exporter of China's presses, but it currently faces two major challenges. On the one hand, the overall international economy continues to be cold, making demand weak; but on the other hand, China's press industry is more competitive globally. Whether it can be upgraded or not, if it still depends on the increase in the amount to maintain a certain amount of exports, it will face greater pressure in the future.
