This evening around 7:30 PM, the Wheeling Fire Department received multiple calls about a house fire in the 100 block of Manchester Drive West. When the first responding units arrived, they found an attached garage fully engulfed in flames at 115 Manchester. Due to the severity of the situation, they quickly upgraded the response to a Code 4, which prompted mutual aid support from neighboring departments including Northbrook, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, and Arlington Heights. Interestingly, at the time of the fire, some of Wheeling’s resources were already committed elsewhere, leading to a limited number of initial units being dispatched.
Despite the challenges, firefighters managed to make a swift intervention on the garage fire, which had started to spread slightly into the attic. Their quick actions prevented any significant damage to the main house structure. It was a commendable effort under pressure, showcasing the professionalism and efficiency of the responders.
Larry Shapiro and Tim Olk were present at the scene, capturing some compelling images. Larry has shared these photos, and you can view the full gallery [here](#).
