Code 4 fire in Wilmette, 5-28-15

Here's a message from Larry Shapiro:

On Friday afternoon, May 28, 2015, Wilmette firefighters responded to a call at 506 5th Street after a resident reported smoke coming from their second-floor apartment. Upon arrival, the crews discovered a small fire in the basement that was spreading up the pipe chase toward the fourth floor.

The situation escalated quickly, and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, indicating a working fire. This led to the deployment of additional units from neighboring towns, including Skokie, Winnetka, Glenview, Glencoe, Northbrook, and Evanston. Firefighters worked tirelessly, opening walls on all floors to gain access and contain the blaze.
