Over the weekend, two separate fire incidents occurred in Lake County’s Division 4 area during the sweltering afternoon. Let me break it down for you.
First up, the Long Grove Fire District was called out at around 3:30 PM to address some smoke detected inside a building located at 2316 Nichols Road in unincorporated Cook County. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire raging in the first-floor storage room, which they managed to extinguish pretty quickly. However, their work wasn’t done yet. They continued to inspect the entire three-story apartment building to ensure there were no signs of the fire spreading. Mutual aid and auto-aid resources were dispatched from neighboring departments including Lake Zurich, Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Barrington, and the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District. I’ve attached a few photos below so you can see what the scene looked like.

Moving on to the second incident, the Barrington Fire Department received an emergency call at 4:30 PM regarding a fence that was ablaze next to a building situated at 171 Walton Street. Unfortunately, the flames spread to the adjacent building, posing a significant threat not only to the structure but also to the overhead power lines nearby. Thanks to the quick actions of the firefighters, they were able to limit the damage to just the initial building, preventing further destruction to the commercial property across the street. Mutual aid support arrived from East Dundee, Palatine Rural, Cary, and Fox River Grove to help contain the situation. Here are some more images capturing the aftermath.
