On a scorching Saturday afternoon, two fire incidents occurred within Lake County’s Division 4. First, the Long Grove Fire District responded to reports of smoke at 2316 Nichols Road, located in unincorporated Cook County, around 3:30 PM. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in a first-floor storage room, which they swiftly extinguished. Their next step involved a thorough check for any potential fire spread throughout the three-story apartment building. Assistance was provided by mutual aid and auto-aid teams from neighboring departments including Lake Zurich, Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Barrington, and the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District.

Later that same afternoon, at 4:30 PM, the Barrington Fire Department was dispatched to a fire involving a fence adjacent to a building on 171 Walton Street. The flames quickly spread to the structure, posing a significant threat not only to the initial building but also to a nearby commercial building and the overhead power lines. Thanks to the swift efforts of the Barrington Fire Department and mutual aid responders from East Dundee, Palatine Rural, Cary, and Fox River Grove, the fire was contained before causing extensive damage. Although the incident caused notable harm to the affected building, it was ultimately prevented from spreading further.
