Recently, a reporter learned from the Weifang City Development and Reform Commission that the National Development and Reform Commission has recently approved a group of vehicle (machine) manufacturing companies and auto parts remanufacturing enterprises to participate in pilot projects. Among them, Weichai Power from Weifang has been selected as one of the pilot component remanufacturing enterprises. This recognition marks an important step forward for the city's efforts in sustainable manufacturing and resource recycling.
Auto parts remanufacturing involves recovering used components through processes such as disassembly, cleaning, reconditioning, and reassembly. These parts are then restored to meet the same technical performance and quality standards as new ones. According to current regulations, the initial scope of the pilot program in China includes five categories of auto parts: engines, transmissions, generators, starters, and steering gears. More than 90% of metal components in vehicles—both steel and non-ferrous metals—can be recycled and reused effectively.
Compared to newly manufactured parts, remanufactured components offer significant advantages in terms of cost-effectiveness, energy efficiency, and material conservation. This not only reduces production costs but also helps lower environmental impact by minimizing waste and resource consumption. As the industry continues to develop, remanufacturing is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting green manufacturing and circular economy initiatives across the automotive sector.
The Flat Face Flange has a gasket surface in the same plane as the bolting circle face. Applications using flat face flanges are frequently those in which the mating flange or flanged fitting is made from a casting.
Flat face flanges are never to be bolted to a Raised Face Flange. ASME B31.1 says that when connecting flat face cast iron flanges to carbon steel flanges, the raised face on the carbon Steel Flange must be removed, and that a full face gasket is required. This is to keep the thin, bittle cast iron flange from being sprung into the gap caused by the raised face of the carbon steel flange.
