On July 16th, the Daqing Oilfield Equipment Manufacturing Base construction project was officially launched within the Dafeng City Wind Industry Park. This milestone marks a significant step forward in Daqing's efforts to reshape its industrial structure and diversify its economic base. The project is part of the China National Petroleum Corporation’s (CNPC) "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" for the equipment manufacturing sector, aimed at developing an oil industry cluster in the northeast and establishing Daqing as a key center for oilfield equipment production.
This investment is also one of the major projects under the Daqing Petroleum Administration’s 2007 development plan. It involves two core technological transformation initiatives: upgrading the reducer and pumping unit systems, as well as modernizing the vacuum heating furnace technology. With a total investment of 423 million yuan and spanning 11.41 hectares, the project is expected to complete its main facilities by the end of this year and be fully operational by August 2008.
Once completed, the base will begin producing advanced pumping units that are safe, eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and intelligent—featuring proprietary technologies. The facility will focus on manufacturing rigs capable of operating under 7,000 meters and will also develop next-generation vacuum furnaces. Upon full operation, the base will have an annual production capacity of 6,000 pumping units and 6,000 speed reducers, with vacuum heating furnace output reaching 500 units per year. This will make it the largest pumping unit and vacuum heating furnace production base in China and within the CNPC system.
In September of last year, Jiang Jiemin, then-General Manager of CNPC, emphasized the importance of building the petroleum equipment manufacturing industry into a pillar sector for Daqing. He set a target for the administration to achieve a production value of 10 billion yuan by 2010, signaling a long-term commitment to industrial growth and technological advancement in the region.
