On January 21st, during the "3rd Hitachi Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Technology Exchange Conference," co-organized by the National Development and Reform Commission's Small and Medium Enterprises External Cooperation Exchange Center and Hitachi, a significant partnership was announced. Hitachi and Yuntianhua Group signed a letter of intent for a motor frequency conversion retrofit project. Additionally, the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas in Shanxi Province signed a cooperation agreement with the Hejin project.
This initiative between Hitachi and Yuntianhua Group is part of the "China-Japan Energy-Saving and Environmental Business Promotion Demonstration Projects" supported by both governments. Under the agreement, Hitachi will supply inverter equipment for high-voltage motor systems to Yuntianhua Group. Once implemented, the project is expected to reduce the company’s annual energy consumption by over 20%. Hitachi emphasized that after the project is completed, it will conduct thorough testing to evaluate the actual impact on energy conservation and emissions reduction.
The Hejin project, focused on the environmental use of coke oven gas in Shanxi Province, is a power generation initiative aimed at utilizing waste gas for clean energy. The first phase targets an annual treatment of 684 million cubic meters of coke oven gas, while the second phase aims to process an additional 156 million cubic meters. The project is anticipated to start grid-connected power generation in 2009. To support this, Hitachi will provide three H-25 gas turbine generator sets.
These two projects are part of Hitachi’s broader "Environmental Vision 2025" initiative in China, which focuses on promoting energy efficiency and sustainability. In line with its commitment to fostering Sino-Japanese collaboration in energy conservation and environmental protection, Hitachi plans to hold an annual technology exchange conference. This effort aims to enhance communication and joint efforts between the two countries in developing and implementing green technologies.
