In order to avoid these undesirable phenomena, a bypass valve, ie, a safety valve, is provided in parallel with the rough filter in a section of the oil passage from the oil pump to the main oil passage. When the oil pressure difference between the oil inlet and outlet of the coarse filter exceeds the specified value, the bypass valve is pushed open, so that the oil flows directly into the main oil passage without passing through the coarse filter to ensure normal lubrication of various parts of the engine.
