2025 supercharger industry scale may reach 20 billion US dollars

With the increasing requirements for energy saving and emission reduction, how to control the emission of carbon dioxide has become a major issue for car dealers. Under such circumstances, does the Engine supercharger have a broad market? In response, Fu Wei, platform manager of Honeywell Integrated Science and Technology (China) Co., Ltd., shared his views on the second China Automotive Turbocharger Application Technology Forum hosted by the China Automotive Consultation Center.

Fu Wei believes that although the current automobile internal combustion engine is threatened by new technologies such as hybrid power and new energy, the entire ACE internal combustion engine still has considerable advantages. For the internal combustion engine, to reduce CO2 emissions is undoubtedly the need to invest costs to develop new technologies, which may require 35% to 95% of the input in the entire development process.

However, for electric vehicles, their input is even greater. Apart from the need for 36% to 60% of R&D for the entire power unit, the energy related to these power units or the power generation industry also needs more investment, especially in the field of pure electric vehicles. There may be about 90% of its R&D needs. Therefore, from this perspective, the internal combustion engine technology development for carbon dioxide emissions is also a relatively low-cost development direction.

According to statistics, this year, the penetration rate of automotive superchargers is 32%, and the total output is 29 million units. In 2020, the penetration rate of superchargers in the global market is expected to reach 40%, and in 2025, it will reach 70%. The scale will be expanded to 20 billion U.S. dollars, so Fu Wei thinks that the turbocharger market situation is very worthwhile.

The conference attracted more than 150 industry participants from across the country to participate. Participating companies include Shanghai Volkswagen, SAIC-GM-Wuling Automotive, Chang'an Automobile Engineering Research Institute, Honeywell, Dow Corning, Pan-Asian Automotive Technology Center, and Ricardo. , Valeo Engines, BASF, AVL Liszt Technology Center, BorgWarner and others.
