The launch ceremony of "Nuclear Materials Science and Engineering" was held in Beijing

On October 28th, over 60 experts and scholars from the fields of materials science and engineering, as well as the nuclear industry, gathered at Chemical Industry Press for the official launch of the "Nuclear Materials Science and Engineering" book series. This significant event marked a major milestone in the documentation and advancement of nuclear technology in China. The book series was initiated and organized by Professor Li Hengde, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a distinguished professor at Tsinghua University. It involved the collaboration of more than 60 institutions, including Tsinghua University, the China Institute of Atomic Energy, the China Institute of Engineering Physics, and the China National Nuclear Corporation. Over the course of seven years, a team of experts worked tirelessly to complete 12 volumes totaling more than five million words. The goal of this ambitious project is to summarize the current achievements in nuclear materials science and technology, while also serving as a comprehensive resource for training the next generation of nuclear professionals. Zhu Jinghua, vice president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, emphasized in his speech that nuclear energy plays a crucial role in sustainable development. He highlighted that nuclear materials are essential to the advancement of nuclear power. The publication of this book series not only fills a critical gap in both domestic and international literature but also carries significant academic and social value. It is expected to contribute greatly to the promotion of high-tech innovation in China and to support the country’s economic growth. The launch ceremony was chaired by Zhou Weibin, vice president of Chemical Industry Press, while Pei Peizong, president of the press, delivered a warm welcome address. The event attracted a wide range of participants, including over a dozen academicians such as Shi Changxu, Li Hengde, Qian Shaojun, and Zhou Lian, along with leaders from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the press and publishing sector, China National Nuclear Corporation, and experts and authors from across the country.
