The green food industry in Yichun Forest District, Heilongjiang Province, has experienced remarkable growth in recent years. According to the latest data, during the first half of this year, the area of green food raw material planting bases expanded to 1.5 million mu, representing a 4.9% increase compared to the previous year. Total production reached 65,000 tons, up by 20% year-on-year, while the added value hit 85.86 million yuan, showing a 28% growth. This rapid development has positioned the green food industry as a key driver in Yichun’s economic transformation.
With 4 million hectares of forest land, Yichun is naturally suited for the production of green foods, especially mountain products. During the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period, the green food sector grew at an annual rate of about 30%. By the end of 2005, the industry had generated an added value of 430 million yuan, establishing a strong foundation with distinctive features and a wide range of products.
This year, Yichun saw significant progress in edible fungus production, reaching 400 million bags. The cultivation area for wild vegetables and fruits expanded to 150,000 mu. Eight new green food bases were established, along with 50 bases at the municipal level. Fourteen new organic, green, and pollution-free products were introduced, 60 agricultural products passed quality and safety certifications, and 25 new items were developed. More than 40 green food processing enterprises have now reached scale, further strengthening the industry's capacity.
To support market expansion, Yichun has intensified efforts in product certification and branding. Forty-six products from 18 companies have received green, pollution-free, and organic food certifications, giving consumers confidence in their quality. These products are now being exported to countries such as the United States, Russia, and Belgium, highlighting the growing international recognition of Yichun’s green food industry.
