These efforts have not only improved operational efficiency but also strengthened the overall capabilities of the companies, allowing them to grow rapidly. By mid-July, the city's chemical sector had achieved annual sales exceeding 100 million yuan, with the number of enterprises reaching this milestone increasing from 14 in 2004 to 22 today. As a result, these companies have become key drivers of Yixing’s chemical industry development. The city now holds an 80% market share in the fine chemicals sector, ranking first among small and medium-sized cities nationwide.
The chemical market is highly volatile, and Yixing's leading companies have adapted by scaling up operations and focusing on large-scale production. For instance, Jiangsu Linggu Chemicals Co., Ltd. has consistently invested over 80 million yuan annually in technological upgrades, which has helped expand its production capacity and reduce costs, thereby enhancing its competitive edge. Its Linggu brand urea is in high demand domestically and is now being exported internationally. The company is currently implementing a major expansion project, with an annual output of 3 million tons of synthetic ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea, along with a thermoelectric plant. This project involves a total investment of over 1 billion yuan, further boosting the company’s overall competitiveness.
Jiangsu Sanmu Group made a significant one-time investment of 250 million yuan last year to introduce new products such as polyvinyl chloride, melamine, and tetraethanol. The company has successfully integrated upstream and downstream production, becoming a leading force in Yixing’s fine chemical industry. Other local firms, including Shenxin Dyes, Arenda Technologies, and Xingyu Pharmaceutical, have focused on product differentiation, securing a strong presence in international markets. In the past year alone, nearly 20 chemical companies in Yixing phased out outdated products and transitioned to more marketable fine chemical products. This shift has significantly boosted the city’s fine chemical market share, which now exceeds 80%.
